Acuerdo Nacional [National Accord]
The National Accord is a space for dialogue that began its work in July 2002. The Government at that time convened a national dialogue in order to reach an agreement that would serve as the basis for the democratic consolidation process, the affirmation of national identity and the design of a shared vision of the country in the future.
Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación [Truth and Reconciliation Commission]- CVR
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission- CVR has carried out an unprecedented effort to obtain exact and minute knowledge about the violence that affected our country in the 1980's and 1990's. The investigators essentially covered the entire country affected by violence, placing emphasis on the most forgotten and isolated areas. At the end of the study they presented a final nine-volume report where it has their conclusions and recommendations.
Congress
The Congress of the Republic is the representative body of the nation; its main role is to represent the nation, elaborate laws and carry out permanent monitoring and political control aimed at the economic, political and social development of the country as well as eventual Constitutional reform and other special roles.
CRECER
CRECER is a government strategy for combating poverty and chronic child malnutrition. The strategy is designed to interconnect the efforts of all sectors involved in this task, including public agencies, regional and local governments, and civil society. CRECER’s goal is to decrease malnutrition in children under age 5 by 9 percentage points by 2011, with the priority on children under age 3 who are in a state of nutritional vulnerability and poverty. The three-stage strategy is being implemented gradually and will cover 880 districts in 21 regions of the country. It will also be implemented in peripheral urban districts with high levels of chronic child malnutrition.
Ombudsman’s Office (Defensoría del Pueblo)
The Ombudsman’s Office (Defensoría del Pueblo) is an independent office whose mission is to protect the fundamental rights of individuals and the community, and to oversee government agencies’ fulfillment of their duties and the provision of public services to citizens. The office has five programs and seven adjunct offices, one of which is the office for Children and Adolescents. Its purpose is to ensure that government agencies defend and promote the rights of children and adolescents; guarantee that the Ombudsman’s Office provides specialized assistance in defense of the rights of children and adolescents; and contribute to perfecting the legal framework and to the design and enhancement of public policies that benefit children and adolescents.
Fondo de Cooperación para el Desarrollo Social [Fund for Social Development]- FONCODES
The Cooperation Fund for Social Development - FONCODES comes under the National Ministry of Women and Social Development - MIMDES Program and intervenes in the pillars of the National Plan to Combat Poverty, principally in the rural area, financing social investment projects as well as social and economic infrastructure, and for the development of productive skills.
Instituto Nacional de Estadística [National Statistics Institute]- INEI
The National Statistics Institute- INEI is responsible for the National Statistics and Information Systems in Peru. It regulates, plans, directs, coordinates, evaluates and supervises the official statistics and information activities in the country.
Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas [Finance Ministry]- MEF
The Finance Ministry- MEF is the body responsible for designing, proposing, implementing and evaluating the economic and financial policy in the country, in order to achieve sustained economic development that will lead to the general wellbeing of the population.
Ministerio de Educación [Ministry of Education]
The Ministry of Education - MINEDU is the maximum body in the sector and is responsible for providing 85% of educational services offered in Peru. Among its main functions is the formulation of national policies on education, based on which it exercises its normative attributions through the sector, and supervises their fulfillment.
Ministerio de Justicia [Ministry of Justice]
The role of the Ministry of Justice- MINJUS is to provide the Executive Branch with legal and juridical advice, guaranteeing a rule of law, collaborating with public entities, and is responsible for the administration of justice, providing free advice and legal defense and encouraging a culture of peace.
Ministerio de la Mujer y Desarrollo Social [Ministry of Women and Social Development]
The Ministry of Women and Social Development- MIMDES's leads the policies in the sector in a decentralized fashion and contributing to overcoming poverty, inequality and exclusion. The work of this ministry is aimed at favoring people in situations of poverty and vulnerable groups, with an integral human rights and equity-based approach, generating equal opportunities among men and women.
Ministerio de Salud [Health Ministry]
Health Ministry- MINSA proposes and conducts health policy in conjunction with all public sectors and social actors. In this way, its mission is to protect personal dignity, to promote health, to prevent illness and to guarantee the integral health attention of all residents in the country.
Ministerio de Trabajo y Promoción del Empleo [Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment]
The Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment - MTPE is the institution responsible for labor administration and the promotion of employment, with the capacity for policy implementation and programs to generate and improve employment. At the same time, it contributes to the development of micro and small businesses (Mypes), encourages social security, promotes professional formation and seeks to ensure fulfillment of Legal Norms and improve labor conditions.
Comité Directivo Nacional para la Prevención Y Erradicación del Trabajo Infantil (CPETI)
The National Steering Committee for the Prevention and Eradication of Child Labor – CPTI is an instance of cross-sectoral coordination of public and private institutions which work in activities for prevention and eradication of child labour.
Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros [President of the Council of Ministers]
President of the Council of Ministers- PCM has the duty to promote, to coordinate and to articulate the Government's general policy in a participatory, transparent and joint fashion to contribute to the country's sustained development with democracy, equity and social justice.
